How We Prioritise Communication with Families

NEW

At Athena Healthcare Group, we make it one of our top priorities to ensure communication with friends and families is paramount. We provide families with regular updates about their loved ones’ health, daily activities, and any changes in their care plan. This information not only helps families stay informed but also helps them feel like they are part of the care team. When families are informed and involved, they are more likely to feel confident in the care being provided.

At the same time, families must also communicate their concerns and needs to us. We make sure it is easy for families to get in touch with us, whether that’s over email, phone call or a face-to-face meeting. Families need to feel like their concerns are being heard and addressed, and that they have a say in their loved ones’ care.

Our Communication Strategy

In our care homes, we prioritise communication with families and loved ones as a core part of our care philosophy. Here are some of the ways we prioritise communication:

Regular Updates

We provide regular updates to familiesabout their loved one’s care. This includes daily reports on activities and health, as well as updates on any changes to their care plan. We make sure to keep families informed about any important milestones or events, such as birthdays, holidays or in-house events. If family members can’t come into the care homes to visit they can visit the Facebook page. Where there are weekly activity programmes, photos and videos of the residents.

Face-to-Face Meetings

We believe that face-to-face communication is essential when building trust and establishing strong relationships with families. That’s why we schedule meetings with families to discuss their loved one’s care and any concerns they may have. These meetings allow us to build a deeper understanding of the families’ needs and develop a personalised care plan that meets those needs.

Family Involvement

Families are an integral part of the care team, and we encourage and welcome their involvement in their loved one’s care. We provide opportunities for families to participate in activities and events in our care homes. We also encourage families to visit often and be involved in their loved ones’ daily lives.

Conclusion

Effective communication is essential when building trust and keeping families informed and involved in the care of their loved ones. At our care homes, we prioritise communication as a core part of our care philosophy. By providing regular updates, scheduling face-to-face meetings, keeping open lines of communication, and encouraging family involvement.e hope to establish strong relationships with families and provide the best possible care for their loved ones.
