Management Accountant

Isle of Man based Athena Healthcare Group is a respected and trusted provider of high quality residential and nursing care homes in the North West of England. The Group is seeking to further strengthen its Island based finance team in preparation for pursuing its ambitious growth targets by offering the role of management and reporting accountant.  Its group’s activities include the design and construction of the care homes which it subsequently operates, providing considerable scope for varied experience and development of the successful candidate.  The role will offer a competitive salary. 

Job Purpose

Reporting to, and working with, the Finance Manager the successful candidate’s role will cover all financial aspects of the Group including:

  • Supervising, mentoring and supporting the bookkeeping/accounting team, including guiding their professional development; 
  • Preparation/review of periodic management accounts and annual statutory financial statements at entity and group level;
  • Collaborating on the continued development of the group’s management accounting and information reporting, including budgeting, forecasting and analytical monitoring tools, as well as finance policies and procedures;
  • Preparation/review of government annual statutory, VAT and tax returns;
  • Working closely with the Group construction and operations management teams to ensure the complete, accurate and efficient flow of information necessary for timely and reliable financial reporting;
  • Supervising accounts payable, payment runs and supplier statement reconciliations;
  • Preparation/review of cash, balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations;

Skills and Capabilities 

Essential 
Fully qualified accountant (i.e. ACCA or ACA) with at least 1 year’s post qualification experience;

Strong accounting, analytical and numerical capabilities; 
Strong Microsoft Excel and Word competency;  
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; 
Excellent organisational skills; 
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with all colleagues; 
A driven, energetic and proactive attitude.


Desirable

Experience of operating Sage 50 accounting system;
Pre and post qualification experience as a client or company accountant;

Exposure to property accounting and the preparation of statutory, VAT and tax returns;

Experienced in the preparation of statutory financial statements to audit standard under UK GAAP.

Role is full time – Excellent salary to offer based on skillset and experience.
