“When visiting my friend - she was full of praise for the friendliness in the staff and said she was happy there and they treated her as a part of the family. It was a pleasant surprise to see her so contented.”

“From day one, we have been impressed with the very people-centred approach from all staff. Their level of care for my wife has been second to none. I would have no hesitation in recommending Abbey Wood. It has given me the peace of mind I needed in relinquishing my caring for my wife, a hard thing to do.”

- Myles Fetherstone

“We're always made to feel very welcome at any time in this friendly, family atmosphere. My dad is being cared for in a safe and homely environment and has settled in extremely well.”

- Elaine Selfe

“The lovely staff do such a wonderful job and although my Grandad may not remember what he's just had for lunch, in the photos we can clearly see he enjoys the activities and trips offered. I'd almost go so far as to say I'm a little jealous of my Grandad's new home!”

- Emma Selfe

“Beautiful home in a lovely setting overlooking Coronation Park. The staff are excellent - my sister-in-law is very happy with everyone, and full of praise for the care she is receiving.”

“The facilities at Abbey Wood Lodge are very well designed giving my mum independence and support. The care given to her is to a high standard and this shows by the way she has settled in and is enjoying life again. We all feel Mum is in the best place.”

- Janet M

As a family, we are delighted that Abbey Wood Lodge opened in time to provide this excellent care for our relative and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.”

“My 91 year old Mum has mild Alzheimer's and had 1 week respite care at Abbey Wood Lodge from 23 June . On returning home she was included in some of the activities and trips out. On Sunday 17 July Mum decided she wanted to return to 'Happywood' on a permanent basis. After discussion with her 5 daughters, spread across the globe, New Zealand, Switzerland, south of England and 2 local daughters it was agreed that this would be a good and safe option for Mum. Unfortunately after the first week Mums mood changed, luckily because of the quick response by the staff an early UTI was diagnosed and antibiotics prescribed. As a family, though Mum's decision, a very difficult time, but Abbey Wood have been fantastic both with Mum and her 5 fussing daughters. Thank you so much for helping Mum keep her independence in a safe environment. Regular posting on Facebook of their fun times are a great help, especially to family who can't just pop in.”

“Abbey Wood Lodge care home is a typical caring home of the future the attitude of all the carers speaks volumes to their credit. All resident have a full and active life which applies to residents that need extra care, they are first and foremost. When my time comes this is where I want to be, what more can I say. The home welcomes people from other communities in order to include them in everything. Abbey Wood Lodge puts forward and activates which successfully is achieved by all members of management and staff.”

“My mum has only just gone into care and much to my surprise has settled in well. At first she refused to come out of her room but with great patience from the staff she is now joining in a lot more and her personal hygiene has improved with encouragement from her care givers. I am very impressed with all the staff and the home.”

- Lorraine A

“At Abbey Wood Lodge there is a really good atmosphere, as soon as you walk in the door. All the staff are helpful and informed. The residents are very well looked after and entertained with regular trips out with lots of mental input. I feel my mum is safe, well looked after and happy.”

- Ronald A

“My mum has just stayed at Abbey Wood Lodge for her third visit since my dad died last year on respite weeks for me. I was very impressed with the way the staff are with the residents. My mum really enjoyed her stay there and it gives me so much peace of mind knowing she is looked after and she is happy. Mum will be 90 years old in February but does not look it and is quite healthy for her age. My mum is due for another week in September and is quite looking forward to it.”

“My close friend died here of a brain tumour and she had been here for over 12 months. Sadly my connection continues as my badminton partner of earlier days is here. I find conditions always bright and cheerful, staff extremely attentive and caring and lots of various activities. There are numerous outings for meals or interests and I have witnessed things like Sinatra tributes where as many as possible gets up to dance. There has been a trip for afternoon tea and a ladies day breakfast. The only weakness as far as I can see is a very small garden- new outside facilities would be good.”

- Anna B

“The premises are new, clean and well laid out. The carers provide a good standard of care. The residents benefit greatly from the stimulation they receive from the in house entertainment and external visits.”

“My husband spent his first ever period of residential respite care (2 weeks) at Abbey Wood Lodge. He was admitted during a period of extremely agitated and difficult behaviour at home. He settled into care very quickly and seemingly easily and developed very positive relationships with the care staff. Presumably as a result of this he seemed to be much calmer in himself each time. I visited and reports back from friends and family who visited echoed this. All in all, as positive an experience as I would possibly have hoped for.”

- Denise

“My dad has just spent a week at Abbeywood Lodge (2nd visit). Could not fault the care given during his stay. Love the fact that the wonderful team do so much with the residents whether it's celebrating a birthday or going out for lunch. My dad seemed very happy and content to the point that he did not want to go home. Would highly recommend Abbeywood Lodge - second to none. Well done to all the team.”

“My relatives, a husband and wife both 94, have been in residence at Abbey Wood Lodge for almost 12 months now. The care and attention they have received has been superb and in my opinion could not have been better. My cousin unfortunately became quite ill and after the hospital discharged her back to Abbey Wood Lodge she was treated with great care and compassion until she passed away. The care received could not have been bettered. Since her passing her husband has been given excellent after care, he has been taken out to various venues and really pampered. This has been greatly appreciated by the resident and more so by his relatives. This has been a very caring home.”

“Very well looked after.”

“My wife has been resident since shortly after Abbey Wood opening. From day one, we have been impressed with the very people-centred approach from all staff. The Manager, shows strong leadership and the Staff are obviously very motivated. Their level of care for my wife has been second to none, responding quickly to any requests or suggestions, this in spite of being a very new Care Home with all the challenges this produces. I would have no hesitation in recommending Abbey Wood. It has given me the peace of mind I needed in relinquishing my caring for my wife. A hard thing to do.”

“Beautiful home in a lovely setting overlooking Coronation Park. The decor and pictures are well-chosen, and I love the cruise ship windows. The memory window-boxes are a lovely touch, as is the kitchen on each floor which the residents can actually use. The staff are excellent - my sister-in-law is very happy with every-one, and full of praise for the care she is receiving. N.b. family: here's where I want to go!”

“Excellent new care home Abbey Wood Lodge is a brand new, purpose built care home opened beginning of November this year. It has been tastefully decorated to a very high standard with a decor appropriate to the clients it serves. The lounges are smaller than in most care homes which gives a homely, lounge/dining room feel. The residents have a choice of two of these areas on each of the three floors of the home. Bedrooms are comfortable and spacious with en suite wet rooms and there is ample storage space in the furniture provided, for personal belongings. The food menu offers a varied nutritious diet of freshly cooked meals. If a meal is not to a clients liking an alternative is offered without fail, usually through direct discussion with the chief on duty. This level of attention to detail and care for the individual I have not experienced before, in this setting. All of the staff are caring, professional and treat clients respectfully and as individuals. They are led by a manager and deputy manager who both excel in their drive to provide the highest level of care whilst allowing a homely, intimate atmosphere to prevale. They are also both highly motivated in the continued development of the best standard of practice for the residents and staff of this home. We, as a family, are delighted that Abbey Wood Lodge opened in time to provide this excellent care for our relative and would have no hesitation in recommending it to other clients.”
