Lily Wharf Lodge is a new, purpose-built home located in Burscough that offers compassionate residential, dementia and nursing care to residents. The Lodge is currently creating a sensational Sensory Garden complete with space for outdoor exercise and themed sections to reflect the local area, the tropics and much more.
A sensory garden is a contained area that provides a beautiful and relaxing environment that is stimulating to all the senses. The smell of flowers, the sound of the birds and the taste of freshly grown fruit and veg are just a few benefits associated with sensory gardens that provide therapeutic, inspiring and calming qualities.
The garden contains a ‘Farm Life’ area that features straw bales and tractor tyres, making the perfect home for their new ornamental chickens, Lester and Lulu! Lily Wharf Lodge has also been working closely with members of the local community to help incorporate Burscough’s rich heritage into the home, garden and all that they do.
To add to the sensory experience, the tropical area will boast a beautiful water feature, decorative flamingos and bird feeders. Although the project is still in the works, residents are already starting to enjoy relaxing in the sunny garden while listening to the birds!
The Lodge has also recently installed a small outdoor greenhouse that homes several strawberry plants, herbs and beautiful flowers to kick-start their new Gardening Club. Lily Wharf Lodge’s ladies and gents are all eager to start planting more flowers not only to admire but to attract wildlife to the garden.
Lily Wharf Lodge would like to thank everyone who has supported their recent project, including members of the local community, ‘Images of Burscough and the Surrounding Areas’ and Warbreck Garden Centre. Everyone at the Lodge is very excited to continue working on and complete the sensory garden for all residents to enjoy!
